The match started really brightly with both teams putting in 100% effort but it was brierfield who had the most chances on goal. Harvey maddran went close with a superb freekick from almost 20 yards out just striking the bottom of the post, the keeper well beaten. The magnificent seven strike again! Only seven Celtic Reds boys were available for this midweek fixture and they came up against an enormous Daneshouse squad. With several Celtic players going down with injuries during the game this looked like mission impossible. But not for these lads! The Brierfield Reds produced one of the most pleasing performances of the season in the spring sunshine. Against an aggresive Readstone team, the lads stayed cool and played the better football throughout the match. Two fantastic strikes from Billy Carrington and Max Rothwell gave the Reds a deserved early advantage but Readstone hit back just before half time and then took control for a short time.
